DEATH BY NUMBERS - ELECTRIC GUITAR EXPERIMENTS

I began experimenting with different materials for the electric guitar sections of the song. The electric guitar has a static sound which was very much sharp and high pitched, so wanted the experiments to imitate the sounds that it made. I began using acrylic and scraping the paint across the page trying to get a sharp high pitched look. I used different colours to blend with each other to create a echo of sound that mister together. I felt this made the painting seem loud and energetic.

Creating my Death By Numbers Composition Sequence + Evaluation

I spent my last week developing my final outcome and testing the format out. Files are too big to show outcomes (The process for creating my final outcome is in my sketchbook) I was generally pleased with the design of my outcome however it's presentation did not meet my expectations. As I printed on acetate the colours did not show as strong as I had imagined. For it to be visible it should have had a solid colour against the print to bring out the colours.  Furthermore, In an ideal world I would have had music playing to accompany the piece, which would allow viewers to get different experiences of the song. I would also have the outcome printed out , in acetate, on a larger scale and placed on a white background in order for it to be more visible and surround the room. This would guide my concept on music becoming apart of your environment when listening to it. To conclude I have learnt that development and experimentation is essential in a creative process, as it b...

Book binding workshop

Today I took part in a book binding workshop where I learnt how to create an accordion fold out book, and i also created end paper for my own book. In participating in this workshop, it allowed me to consider different formats for my project outcome as well as ideas of how I could incorporate my visual outcomes into a book.

DEATH BY NUMBERS - Drum Kit Pattern Experimentation's

Today I experimented using mark making to create visuals for the drum pattern.  HI HAT SNARE DRUM BASS DRUM

DEATH BY NUMBERS: ELECTRIC GUITAR OUTCOMES

DEATH BY NUMBERS: Bass guitar experiments

Over the weekend I decided to explore the song in more depth and experiment with different materials.  In my previous experiments, i generally stick to one medium to explore a subject, so for these experiments i wanted to come up with a range of medias and different outcomes to show a range of developments and experimentation.  EXPERIMENTATION'S The first thing i noticed while listening to the song was that the melody was played by the bass guitar, so I focused on this section first. Using acrylic i created these streaks of colour. It was most interesting to me that they formed these soft yet prominent patterns, which i felt gave a sense of direction. With there being different patterns that forms the square, it conveyed a sense of notes that play at once to form a whole chord. I created this colour theory while painting these; a smooth change in chords symbolised through the fluent change in colours. I began with red and ended up at purple. It was imp...

DEATH BY NUMBERS - Drum Kit Outcomes

DEATH BY NUMBERS - Bass guitar outcomes

Today I spent time creating my outcomes from my bass guitar experiments. Exploring a range of techniques to see which ones worked best. I was pleased with the outcomes I had produced as I have produced a range of visuals which communicate my representation of the sounds. In order to move forward my next step would be to explore another instrument in the song.
